I have always considered Bob Gillis a friend and excellent Radio Tech. We worked together on a few projects for The Jefferson County Police Department and Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services Department. One very special trait I admired about Bob was his respect and kind words even when he was receiving the opposite.
I remember looking up on the Stage during President Fords visit and there was Bob sitting next to the President. We had a fun conversation about that the next day.

Bob was a great guy to work for. He was the person everyone strived to please. He never had to say much, you could tell what kind of a job you were doing just by his presence. What a great man! 73's Bob.

I first met Bob back in 1985 when I started with UPS working in Telecommunications at the Air Hub In Louisville. He was very instrumental in the radio communications network that developed over the following 30 years for UPS. His leadership, vast knowledge and calming personality was exactly what we needed when we were growing at a fast rate. Although I only knew him from a business relationship, I knew he was the real deal. I'm very grateful our paths crossed. He was what we call, "One of the good guys". May God give his family and friends comfort at this time of loss.

I miss ol' Bob Gillis. One of the best bosses I could ever have. Even when I left the company for bigger and better things he made me feel good about my decision. Bob will certainly be missed.

Mr. Gillis was a tremendous individual. Over 30 years ago, I showed up on the doorsteps of Louisville Two-Way Radio (Now RCS Communications). His patience and willingness to help a young man trying to make his way in the world will always be a part of me. Mr. Gillis, Thank you for being a mentor, friend and above all, one of the finest individuals I had and will ever have the pleasure of knowing.
You were the Best Mr. G.

Bob was my best friend as our kids were growing up. His family vacationed with my family and we shared many great times together. I have fond memories of Bob and our times together. Our prayers go out to Betty and Corky.
