Robert Franklin Slaven

Louisville - Robert, 89, passed away on December 28, 2019.

Bob was born in Stearns, Kentucky and moved to Louisville as a young husband and father to work in maintenance at the Louisville Oil Refinery. He retired as Terminal Manager for Ashland Petroleum Company after 40 years of service at the refinery. He was an active member of Meadowview Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. His lifelong love of golf began at age 10 as a caddie at Stearns Country Club and he enjoyed many rounds at numerous courses in Kentucky. He was a devoted and supportive family man and is survived by Betty, his wife of 70 years, son Michael (Louise), grandchildren Rob Nathanson (Zara), Ted Nathanson (Sarah Ballard), Tim Slaven, Emily Coffey (Rob) and great-grandchildren Archer, Rosemary, Romilly and Briar. His daughter Amy Slaven predeceased him in 1992.

A "Receiving of Friends" will be held on Saturday afternoon, January 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Springhurst Community Clubhouse, 4200 Springhurst Blvd. in Louisville. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Hosparus Health, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205.
