Rudy Marn Obituary

CLARKSVILLE MARN, RUDY F., 89, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at his home in Clarksville. He was a US Army veteran having served in Hawaii, the South Pacific, and Japan during World War II with the Medical Corps. He was a union pipe fitter and was a 56 year member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters. After retirement from the American Synthetic Rubber Company in Louisville, he became a well know clockmaker both making and repairing pendulum clocks for many area residents. He was born near Mulberry, Kansas, the youngest of four children. His parents, Anton and Agnes, had immigrated to the United States from Austria having passed through Ellis Island in New York. He married Norma Jean Oliver in 1942. She preceded him in death in 1993 following 51 years of marriage. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Tom Marn and two sisters, Stafa Janezic and Josephine Langford. He is survived by his two children, Rudy G. Marn of New York City, and Helen Marn Day of Clarksville; two grandchildren, Michael Marn of Clarksville and Dawn Cunliffe of Sellersburg; two great-grandchildren, Evan Cunliffe and Lauren Cunliffe of Sellersburg; and additional family members Harold Day and Debbie Marn of Clarksville, and Bill Cunliffe of Sellersburg, Winston Machado of New York City, and his constant companion for the past fifteen years, a loving black cat named Maui. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarksville. Burial will be at Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, Kansas.
