Stephan Samuels Obituary
He graduated from University of Louisville, with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics in 1980. He was retired from Ford Motor Company, KY Truck Plant. He recently volunteered with the AARP tax preparation program, filing tax returns for the elderly, for shut-ins and for other less fortunate. He had also volunteered as a Meals-on-Wheels driver out of Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital and loved the outdoors, especially hiking.
Stephan was preceded in death by his parents, Rose Mary Ralston Samuels and Eugene Walter Samuels.
Steve is survived by his wife of 29 years and the love of his life, Cathy Cay (Hensley) Samuels; his son, Louis Clark (Alicia); daughters, Emily Caitlyn and Cristin Cay; brothers, David Samuels (Karen), Chris Samuels (Julie) and Paul Samuels; sisters, Anna Samuels (Roger), Kathleen Ogle (Chuck), Carol Samuels and Teresa Meurer (Carl); special aunt and uncle, Jane Ralston and John Ralston (Alice); several nieces and nephews; cousins; and numerous friends.
Stephan's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation of Kentucky.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Cathy, and your kids. Steve was a remarkable person. He defied all odds in his pursuit of life. He helped his friends and neighbors any time there was a need, and he will always hold a special place in my heart. I will always feel like you are all my family..and now I have lost one of us. Cathy, I am sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He was a good and kind man. He was always ready to help someone and never asked for anything in return. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and especially by those of us who knew him well. I am proud to have numbered him as one of my friends. My world is a little sadder today.
