Stephen Bloom Obituary

Bloom, Stephen Edward,

70, Buckner, KY, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015.

Stephen was a devoted husband, loving father and loyal brother. He was a caring friend to many as he will be remembered by all of those he touched during his time in this life.

Stephen often claimed he would never grow up and was genuinely young at heart. His passion for life will not be forgotten.

Stephen gleamed with joy when he talked about his children.

He welcomed Rachael Erin into the world on February 1, 1985, and Sarah Elizabeth on January 5, 1990, in his previous marriage to Dr. Nancy Bloom. He also loved Katharine and Benjamin dearly, angels he gained in his marriage of 12 blissful years with his soulmate, Janet, who was by his side until his final breaths.

We see our father's spirit wherever we go, including his traits and mannerisms in his only grandson, Weston "Edward", along with his sister, Emilia. He was a proud grandfather of Isabella and Abigail who will also miss their 'Pop, Pop.'

It was fate when Stephen met Janet in the fall of 2001, two souls destined to be with each other. Jan was his representative for Sprint long distance. After finishing her training with the company, it was her second phone call to Stephen that forever changed both of their lives.

Together they celebrated life, there for each other through the ups and downs of it all. They started out as best friends, falling in love in what was truly a magical relationship.

Stephen was born October 29, 1944, in Red Bank, NJ, to Edward and Ruth (Murray) Bloom. Stephen was the eldest of three boys and was big brother to Michael and Richard.

Stephen believed in working hard, and he was not only successful in family and love, but as a businessman.

Stephen was a renowned horseshoer on the east coast, with clients like Carol Thompson, an international show jumper and member of the Olympic team. He was a highly sought after farrier in New Jersey.

After retiring his anvil and apron, he continued his success in the industry. He was the president of Grand Circuit Products LLC and founder and former owner of Across the Anvil East, Freehold, NJ, which he started out of a garage in 1985. Stephen started the manufacturing division of Grand Circuit Products in 1993 and was highly regarded in therapeutic horseshoeing.

Stephen was a proud patriot of his country and was passionate about American history, often visiting historic sites across the country with his wife, Jan. He was a proud Republican and lifetime member of the NRA.

Stephen is survived by, wife, Janet (Douglas) Bloom, Buckner; daughter Rachael E. Dalfonzo (Eric), Jackson, N.J., with grandchildren Weston and Emilia; daughter Sarah E. Bloom, Sidney; daughter Katharine J. Faris (Adam), Louisville, with grandchildren Isabella and Abigail; son Benjamin D. Johnston, Blacksburg, VA; and brothers Michael Bloom (Sandy), Wilmington, NC, and Richard Bloom (Joan), New Port Richey, FL.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Edward, and nephew Chris Bloom.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made to Abigail Adams Historical Society, P.O. I was deeply saddened upon hearing of Steve's passing. He was always good to me when I started shoeing in 94 and carried me alot the first yr while I was getting established at a time when he was struggling as well. I'll never forget his generosity. He will be sadly missed by many. You are all in my thoughts and you especially Jan...
