Thomas George Obituary
Louisville - Thomas James "Jim" George, Jr., 73, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital.
Jim was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Thomas J. Sr. and Sara George. Jim was a generous, soft-spoken, and caring man. He joined the United States Marine Corps after high school and repaired jet engines in Vietnam. He had a career as a machinist with Stauble Machine and Tool. Jim was a talented craftsman who could do anything from furniture design and construction to model ship building. He was an avid reader and baker and enjoyed playing cards and board games with the family. He leaves a legacy of love and devotion to his family and will be remembered as a doting husband, loving father, and Papa to his two grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Cathy George; children, Christopher George and Laura Lynch (Mike); grandchildren, Giovanna Williams and Talluah Lynch; siblings, Marty George (Janice), Margaret Orril (Eddie), Cathy Boyd (Steve), and Pat Merrick (Kenny); and family friend, Gene Ann Haskens.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity. Online condolences may be shared at www.Ratterman.com.
At the request of Jim's family, Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home will require mask to be worn by all visitors for the duration of their time in our facility.
