Thomas Jasper Obituary

Jasper, Thomas R.,

86, of Mt. Washington, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He was a man of solid faith and a loving, dedicated family man. As an active, lifelong member of First Baptist Church Mt. Washington, he served as deacon and on various committees.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Verneasa Troutman Jasper; his devoted sister, Nancy Carrithers; and his "bossy" daughters, Tara (Randy) Mefford, Jill (Patrick) Bleemel, and Cindy (Eric) Dickerson. Treasured grandchildren are Nichole (Michael) Pierce, Miranda (Kenny) Burke, Ben (Tiffany) Bleemel, Andrew (Mary) Bleemel, Megan (Ryan) Morris, Morgan Mefford, Audra (Tyler) Bridges, and Hannah Dickerson. He felt blessed to have twelve feisty great-grandchildren.

Tom received his Bachelor's from Bowling Green Business College of Commerce in 1953. He is best known for his ownership of Central Garage Chrysler-Plymouth and later Tom Jasper Chevrolet. He served as a Director of Peoples Bank of Mt. Washington; was a Charter member of Mt. Washington Lions Club; and, was involved in founding Mt. Washington Fire Department.

A leader who disliked the spotlight, Tom left his mark on our community. A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church Mt. Washington with burial to follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be held at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mt. Washington from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The family requests that all donations be sent to Hosparus or First Baptist Church Mt. Washington Building Fund.

I know you are missing your Daddy. I sure miss mine. They were buddies and much alike in their good sense of business and hometown pride. Hold tight to your memories and focus on the good times. God blessed us with them for many wonderful years. Looking forward to our forever home where we will all meet again.
With love,

When we moved to Mt Washington 12 years ago, Tom was the first person I met. A simple 5 minute introduction, and I knew we'd found home! I live next to some property he owns. I was missing him, not seeing him out there for some time now. He's now at the right hand of God. See ya' again some day my friend!
