Thomas McCarthy Obituary
82, passed away July 21, 2016. He was born in New London, CT and graduated from Union College, Barboursville, KY and from the University of Louisville. He spent 34 years in the Jefferson County School Public System as a teacher, counselor and principal at Seneca High School, Durrett and Valley High Schools. Upon retirement, he returned to training thoroughbred horses; he worked as a trainer until May, 2016.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Scanlon McCarthy; his five children, Tom McCarthy (Jamie), Dede McCarthy, Molly Adams (Mike), Tim McCarthy (Andrea) and Meg Livesay (Kenny); his eight grandchildren, Hannah, Carol and Collin McCarthy, Nick and Kaitlin Adams, and Daniel, Sean and Paisley Livesay.
A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road, with a private burial to follow. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road on Monday, July 25, 2016.
