William F. "Bill" McCreary

Louisville - William F. McCreary Sr. (Bill) 91 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday June 1, 2021. He was born in Louisville KY to James and Margaret McCreary He attend St. Cecilia grade school and was a 1949 graduate of Flaget High School. He received his BS from the University of Louisville. Bill was a Navy Veteran of Korean War. He retired from General Electric in 1992, and Kroger in 2010 (with 57 yrs of service, 44 consecutive yrs. at the Auburndale Kroger retiring at the age of 80) He was a long standing member of St Thomas More and St Margaret Mary. Preceding him in death are his parents, his sisters; Anna Marie and Anastasia McCreary, Helen Virgin (Furge), Margaret Johnson, and brother James McCreary Jr. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 66 yrs., Miriam Welch McCreary, his children: Bill Jr (Pam), Tim, Donna and Tom McCreary. His grandchildren Tara(Chris), Meredith, and Kevin and "The Greats" Dylan, Addalyn and Brooklyn . Bill was a member of The American Legion Post 229, and a member of "The Order of The Otters" a group of friends who camped and traveled the world together. Visitation will be at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville, from 2-8 pm on Sunday June 6th and funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Monday June 7th at St Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd with viewing at church at 9am. Following cremation he will be buried at St Michael's Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Staff of Norton Brownsboro 4 East and Hosparus.
