Adeline Scholefield Obituary

.... longtime Pepperell resident

PEPPERELL: Adeline "Peggy" (Taylor) Scholefield, 89, of Maplewood Farm, Pepperell, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Bob Scholefield, who passed away on February 1, 2020. Peggy was born in Brooklyn, NY, on November 23, 1932. She is the daughter of Cornelia (Campbell) Taylor and her spouse Calvin Joseph Taylor. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Manhattan, NY and continued her education at NYU, where she earned a degree in radiology. She began her career by working as an x-ray technician at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in NY. She married her longtime friend and love, Bob on June 26th, 1954. The couple then moved to Tewksbury, MA, where Peggy continued her career as an x-ray technician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lowell, MA. In 1968, Bob and Peggy purchased Maplewood Farm in Pepperell, where they raised their five children and devoted their lives to the care of foster children and disabled veterans from the Bedford VA Hospital CRC program. Their commitment to the care of foster children was recognized and featured on the Massachusetts Channel 5 show 'Chronicle'. In 1991, Peggy received a master's degree in psychology from Springfield College and was subsequently employed by U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy as the Health & Human Service Representative. She studied opera as a young lady in Manhattan and was the youngest person to ever perform at the old Carnegie Hall in New York City. Over the years she performed in numerous area talent shows and won accolades for her gift. Peggy loved all things relating to New York City, including the Brooklyn Dodgers, the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. She enjoyed her summers vacationing at the ocean and her "days away" at the pool with her children. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, as she was surrounded by her family and loved ones. She leaves seven daughters: Debra McDowell of Nashua, NH; Colleen Beliveau & her husband Ken of Pepperell; Maria Scholefield of Townsend; Rebecca Neptune & her husband Tyler of New Orleans, LA; Heidi Rivera of Leominster ; and Colleen Elizabeth Scholefield and Alicia Jaynes, of Pepperell. Just seeing this. So very sorry to hear of the loss of Peggy. I first met Peg and her son Scott when my husband and I took foster parent classes about 35 years ago. Peg was an amazing, accomplished and admirable
woman who made a positive difference to so many people. Our sympathy to family and all `family´ that Peg had fostered.

Working for Dcf for decades I had the pleasure to know Peggy and her loving and giving nature with children and Vets. She was one of a kind and certainly gave herself to all her causes.
Rest In Peace Peg !
