Albert Greenhalgh Obituary

Albert S. Greenhalgh of Pelham, U.S. Navy WWII Veteran; 80 LOWELL Mr. Albert S. Greenhalgh a resident of Pelham, NH died, Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Lowell General Hospital after an extended illness, aged 80 years. United States Navy World War II Veteran. He was the husband of Anita P. (Brock) Greenhalgh, with whom he celebrated their 60th year of marriage on July 26th. Born in Lowell, on February 22, 1927 he was the son of the late Albert and Bessie (Swanton) Greenhalgh. He received his education in the Lowell School system. Mr. Greenhalgh enlisted in the United States Navy on March 21, 1944; he was a combat Veteran serving aboard the Aircraft Carrier Bon Homme Richard in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged June 9, 1946. Mr. Greenhalgh was employed by the Town of Pelham, serving as Director of Residential Energy Conservation in the Governors Energy Office and was instrumental in writing the State of New Hampshire's residential Energy Program, also participated in authoring New Hampshire first book and guidelines on recycling. He served on Pelham's Budget Committee, Pelham's Board of Selectman, Incinerator Building Committee, Incinerator Advisory Committee and Co-Founder of Coalition for Special Needs Children in Pelham. As a selectman, he was instrumental in obtaining a grant that helped purchase the first ambulance in Pelham, also participated in obtaining Pelham's first Elderly Housing project now known as Pelham Terrace. Founder of New Hampshire/Vermont Oil Burner Service Mgrs. Association, Past Vice-President National Service Mgrs. Assoc. and continued to be active in the community affairs up to the time of his death. Mr. Greenhalgh is survived by his loving wife Anita, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Albert C. Greenhalgh of Londonderry, NH and Matthew B. and Danielle Greenhalgh of Pelham; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Robert Romilly of Littleton, MA and Tammy Clement of Pelham, NH. Five grandchildren, Robert Romilly Jr., Kerry Ackerman, Joshua and Ashley Clement and Brandon Greenhalgh. Three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Emily and Meaghann Ackerman. A sister, Gladys Kean of Florida. Father of the late Bruce S. Greenhalgh, and brother of the late Garfield Greenhalgh. GREENHALGH Died in Lowell, December 18, 2007 Mr. Albert S. Greenhalgh, a resident of Pelham, NH aged, 80 years, husband of Anita P. (Brock) Greenhalgh. A U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. It being his request calling hours are omitted. Cremation will take place at Linwood Crematory, the interment will be private. Memorial Service will be held Friday December 28th, at 1:00 PM at the Pulpit Rock Lodge #103, Perkins Way, Pelham, NH 03076. Friends invited.
