Alice O'Neil Obituary

Alice P. O'Neil of Lowell, active at St. Margaret Church; 84 LOWELL Alice P. O'Neil, 84, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Oct. 2, at Willow Manor Nursing Home. She was a daughter of the late George R. and the late Anna L. (Mehan) O'Neil. She was educated in the Lowell Public Schools, graduating from Lowell High School. She then attended Salem State College, attaining a Bachelor's Degree in Science in Education. Miss O'Neil made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church where she was a member of the League of Catholic Women and the Blessed Virgin Sodality. She was employed for 44 years by the United States Government, retiring in 1988 after having worked a secretary for the U.S. District Court in Boston for 22 years. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and was Treasurer of Chapter 360. She is survived by a brother, Justin O'Neil and his wife, Ethel, of Sterling, Va.; nephews, Robert A. O'Neil and his wife, Janet, of North Carolina, Stephen G. Cook and his wife, Linda Monk, of Alexandria, Va., and Jeffrey Cook and his wife, Nan, of Newburyport; a niece, Ann M. Greco of Yorba Linda, Calif.; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also the sister of the late Frances Cook, and the late Mary O'Neil. YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 2 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON MONDAY. ON TUESDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816. HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MARGARET'S CHURCH AT 9:30 A.M. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
