I had the pleasure of having Amy in my class as a Painting 2 student last spring at Middlesex Community College. I was glad when I saw her last name, as I'd previously taught her very gifted sister, Samantha.

Needless to say - I was broken-hearted when I got the news of her passing . Amy was a gifted artist and a wonderful human-being in so many ways. She was bright, open, honest and funny - and so modest in the face of posessing such a strong natural gift. All her classmates loved her and her artwork and she always had something positive and supportive to say about theirs.

My heart goes out to her very dedicated mother - who I had the pleasure of meeting several times in connection with her daughters - and my heart goes out to her sister Samantha - who I had enjoyed tremendously as well -a wonderfully gifted, bright and serious artist and person - and my heartfelt sympathy to all of her loving and devoted family and friends.

She lit so many lives with her love, art, kindness and humor -too briefly - but so very brightly for all who came in contact with her. I know she will continue to live on in so many hearts and continue to brighten all those who knew and loved her with the memories she left behind. She was such a generous and bright spirit! Along with so many I will truly miss her....

I have some lovely photos of Amy that I took during her final crit last May which I would love to post and/or send to her family. I was unable to find a place to do so on this legacy page...they're wonderful because you can also see the beautiful paintings she has just finished...and her beautiful smile.

May God hold you all in the palm of His hand! I am a complete stranger who just happened to see the obituary of your beautiful daughter/sister/godchild/girlfriend/cousin/niece/ friend in the paper. My heart just breaks for you all. No one can truly know what you are all going through. May it help you in some small way to know that you are being thought of and prayed for at this most difficult time. I have to say that the photo labeled Amy and Mum (sitting on the sofa) was what prompted me write this message. How many times do we as parents do something as simple as sitting on a sofa with our child and take it for granted...not knowing how we would do anything to have that moment back again? May all your loving memories of 18 years together give you strength until you see each other again. (I hope I have not offended anyone by visiting this page. My intentions are only to pray for you even though we don't know each other.)

Diane, for many months as we crafted this film, Amarante repeatedly stepped in and made us smile. Amy's genuine joy and enthusiasm in that moment at the Anime convention with Michelle, in her element, was infectious and has already rippled through to people she never knew. This resonance will continue. It is an honor for us to be able to be a part of this moment with Amarante, and you. Our hearts are with you and those who love her.

Amarante!

August 25, 2015

Diane, I was blessed to film you and Amy at Anime Boston in 2011. Amy was dressed up as her own original character, "Amarante." I remember a calm soul who when she smiled, smiled ear to ear. Amy was generous enough to draw a picture of Rei, Michelle's favorite character, and send it to Michelle. With the help of your continued stength, Diane, the world is - and will be - a better place because of Amy Gould.

Condolences to your family.

August 24, 2015

Dear Diane,
There are no adequate words to express how heartbroken I am over the tragic and senseless loss of your precious daughter Amy. I was one of Amy's Girl Scout Troop leaders when she attended GDRMS with my daughter Haylee. They also attended the Peter Twomey Youth Center after school program together for several years, and I will always remember what a quiet, sweet, soul your beautiful Amy was. Haylee and I attended her mass today and were deeply touched by the powerful sermon. I pray that God cradles your baby in the palm of his hand, till you are all reunited in heaven again someday. May God rest her soul.
With deepest sympathy,
Patty Tervo

August 23, 2015

Amy Margaret Gould, 18, passed away on Aug. 15, 2015. Amy was a passionate soul who, while often quiet and reserved, shared her full colors with her family and friends, as well as through her singing and her amazing artistic abilities. She had a wicked sense of humor, loved to laugh, and wasn't afraid to be herself, whether it was doing the rumba with one of her best friends or singing a Japanese song (in Japanese!) in front of the entire middle school at the school's talent show. Amy was an honor student who spent her senior year at Nashoba Valley Regional Technical High School in their dual-enrollment program, taking a full year of freshman college courses at Middlesex Community College for both high school and college credit, and she would have continued her pursuit of a BA/MA in art as a sophomore at Middlesex Community College this fall.

Born in Newton, MA, Amy was an infant when she moved with her family to Groton, MA, the town she called home for most of her life. She was baptized at Sacred Heart Church in downtown Groton.

She just recently settled in Ayer with her mother and stepfather. She was a Groton-Dunstable student for her elementary years at Boutwell and Prescott, and GDRMS for her middle school years. She then enrolled in Nashoba Valley Regional Technical High School where she was a Design and Visual Communications student, graduating in June 2015. Amy loved her Design Shop Family', but her happiest school days were those spent in Groton-Dunstable schools.

Amy danced with Susan Searles Dance and Arts Center since she was 3, studying ballet, tap, lyrical, and hip hop. She enjoyed showing off her hard work and dedication to the art at their annual dance performance. Music and song were an important part of Amy's life, and she studied piano for 5 years and voice for nearly 3 years with Jeanne Iburg. Amy had the gift of a beautiful voice, and she planned to continue her musical studies during her college years. Groton Center for the Arts Camp was a summer tradition for Amy, with tennis and art camp being her favorites.

While Amy was an accomplished dancer, singer, and artist, her passion was Anime. She was rarely without a sketchbook within reach, and was exceptionally good at drawing emotions and feelings, whether they be joy or flirtatiousness, laughter or heartbreak. She attended Anime Boston for several years, cosplaying as her own original characters, as well as her favorites from popular Anime. While in middle school she taught anenrichment class in Drawing Anime at the Peter Twomey Youth Center.

Amy embraced her individuality fiercely, and in her own quiet way was a role model, support and mentor for others who didn't always fit in.

Amy loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was summers on Hampton Beach or doing spur-of-the-minute runs to McDonalds with best friends Brittany Dennis, Anna Gerhardt, and Jessica Stevens.

Amy leaves behind her beloved family, who all love her dearly: mother Diane Lloyd Bastos, stepfather Marcone Bastos; father Bradley Gould, stepmother Nancy Gould; sister Samantha Gould; brother Jim Taylor, aunt Christine Somma; loving boyfriend Daniel Gabrault; great aunt Catherine Carr; Godparents Margaret Hopkins and Reginald Richard; devoted cousins Robbie and Victoria Sheffield; aunt and uncle Gayle and Bob Sheffield; aunt Susan Lloyd; aunt and uncle Bonnie Carr Bowers and Peter Bowers; uncles Stephen Condon, Kenny Lloyd, David Holm; aunt and uncle Margie and Rob Mello; aunt and uncle Susie and Bobby Gould; uncle Ed Gould; cousins Brandon and Bobby Gould; Best Friends Brittany Dennis, Anna Gerhardt, Jessica Stevens, who were her sisters of the heart; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins. She also leaves behind many, many friends, classmates, and their families who recognized her lovely, caring heart. Amy was a beautiful girl, with a gentle, pure soul, and she will be sorely missed by the many people who knew her and loved her.

While Amy's time on this earth was brief, we are better people for having known her. She will always be an Angel among us. Amen.
