DRACUT, MA -- Barbara A. (Maguire) Kiernan, 69, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Terrence D. Kiernan, with whom she would have celebrated 47 loving years of marriage on May 1st.

Born in Lowell on July 4, 1947, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Illg) Maguire. Barbara was a graduate of Lowell High School, and then went on to earn her Associate's Degree from Mt. Wachusett College. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a medical secretary for various local doctors, most recently at Merrimack Orthopedic Associates in Lowell.

Barbara loved spending time at her seasonal home in Wells, Maine. Above all, spending time with family was most important to her, particularly her grandchildren whom she cherished. Once her first grandchild was born, Barbara retired so that she could take care of him. She continued to do so over the span of ten years while subsequently being blessed with another grandson, and a granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived and will be deeply missed by her two children, Brian P. Kiernan and his wife, Amanda of Merrimack, NH, and Erin P. Roberson and her husband, Ronald of Dracut; 3 grandchildren, Aiden, Brendan, and Kiera Roberson; and a sister, Joan Maher and her husband, Raymond of Pepperell; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

She was predeceased by her sister, Katherine Langlois.

KIERNAN -- Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on WEDNESDAY, January 25th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. Her funeral service will be held inside the funeral home on THURSDAY, January 26th at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
