Beatrice Campbell Obituary

Beatrice L. (Bergeron) Campbell
Loving Mother, Grandmother

and Great-Grandmother

CHELMSFORD -- Beatrice L. (Bergeron) Campbell, aged 87 years, of Chelmsford, formerly a longtime resident of Lowell and Naples, Florida, died peacefully November 28, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by her adoring children. She was the beloved wife of Ildage J. Campbell Sr., who died September 17, 2014, and with whom she had celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Born in Lowell, March 26, 1927, a daughter of the late Aime and Madeline (Breault) Bergeron. She received her education in the Lowell school system, where she attended Ste Jeanne d'Arc grammar school, and graduated from Keith Hall.

Mrs. Campbell was a faithful parishioner of St. Margaret Church for 40 years.

Bea and Dage Sr. met at a school dance when they were young teens. He could not help but notice "that beautiful gal in a gorgeous red dress". They found love at first sight, and shared a lifetime of devotion. They loved to dance, and were always the first couple out on the floor.

During her years in Lowell, Bea enjoyed entertaining guests and hosting family gatherings, especially birthday celebrations, holidays and pool parties. She was famous for her amazing French dishes, which she loved to cook for all to enjoy.

Beatrice and Ildage Sr. retired to Naples, Florida, where they lived for 28 years. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Europe.

After the recent passing of her beloved husband, she moved to Meadow Lodge in Chelmsford to spend time with her large, loving family.

Beatrice had many passions in life, but none surpassed the devotion she had for family, friends, and her Catholic faith.

She is survived by four children, Dage Campbell and his wife Susan of Lowell, Glenn Campbell and his wife Barbara of Pelham, NH, Nancy Shanahan and her husband William of Lowell, and Alan Campbell of Lowell; eight cherished grandchildren, Dage Campbell III, Billy Shanahan, Greg Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Timothy Campbell, Ryan Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Cody Campbell; and eight great-grandchildren. Also by four sisters, Gloria Quinn and her husband Myles of Falmouth, ME, Thelma Lahme and her husband Paul of York, ME, Lorraine Patrick of Boston, and Dolores Fairburn and her husband Ricky of No. Berwick, ME, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clarence and Margaret Campbell of Dracut. She was the grandmother of the late Justin B. Campbell, mother-in-law of Sheree Campbell, sister of Constance Cox, and sister-in-law of Donald Patrick, Jack Campbell and Richard Dionne.

Like Brenda, I share many fond memories of family gatherings at the Campbell's. It was always a fun time for the cousins to get together, and I very much appreciate Uncle Dage and Aunt Bea's hospitality. My condolences to all their extended family.

I have happy memories of growing up and spending overnights with you all. Recalling Uncle Dage's wonderful pipe tobacco and Auntie Bea's love of cooking and reading historical novels and biographies. I'm sure they are both happy and together again in heaven. Prayers are with you all.
