Carmela Arzilli

Carmela Arzilli longtime resident of Wilmington; 82 WILMINGTON Mrs. Carmela (Lunetta) Arzilli, age 82, of Wilmington, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, surrounded by her family. Born in Brockton, MA, on November 24, 1926, Carmela was the dear daughter of the late Joseph & Antonina (Cannizzaro) Lunetta. Carmela grew up in Medford, MA, and was a graduate of Medford High School Class of 1944. Carmela married Umberto "Bert" Arzilli, on February 2, 1947, at the Vatican and together they celebrated over 54 years of marriage until his passing in October of 2001. Carmela and Bert moved to Wilmington in 1959, where they raised their children. Prior to retirement in 1988, Carmela was employed at Sweetheart Plastics for many years in the Quality Control Department. In her spare time, Carmela enjoyed cooking for family and friends, cross stitching, playing bingo, she and her husband loved to travel, dance, and square dance, they belonged to Skirts & Flirts Square Dancing Club, and she volunteered her time at the North Shore Elder Service Center in Malden. Carmela will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family and friends who will truly miss her. Carmela was the devoted mother of Robert Arzilli & his wife, Jacki of Sandown, NH, Cheryl Mason & her husband, Joe of Wilmington, and Ron Arzilli of Windham, NH; loving "Grandma" of Scott Arzilli & his wife, Erica, Gregg Arzilli, Christina Beauregard & her husband, Gary, Michelle Arzilli, Paul Mason, Corey Mason; and great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Nathan, & Gianna Arzilli, and Sophia Beauregard; dear sister of Joseph Lunetta & his wife, Mary of Wilmington, Waldo Lunetta & his wife, Anna of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Frances MacGilvray & her husband, Harold of Medford; sister-in-law of Marisa Arzilli and Rafaelo Arzilli & his wife, Natalina, all of Rome, Italy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 8:00 a..m. in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Friday, March 27th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington.
