Catherine Berube Obituary

Catherine T. Berube lifelong Tewksbury resident; 82 Tewksbury Catherine T. "Kay" (Sheehan) Berube, age 82, a lifelong Tewksbury resident, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at home with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife of Donald E. Berube, who died August 8, 2002 and the loving mother of Mary C. Harrington, who died January 27, 2008. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire on October 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Peter I. and Bridget (Barry) Sheehan. Kay attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1944. Following graduation, she attended and graduated from the Lowell Academy of Hairdressing. For many years Kay owned and operated the Sheehan Rest Home on Lee Street, which was founded by her parents. Kay was a talented knitter and an avid reader. A loving grandmother, "Gram" as she was called by her grandchildren, took great pride in and enjoyed talking about her grandchildren and her great grandson. Mrs. Berube was a lifelong communicant of Saint William's Parish of Tewksbury. She is survived by one daughter, Susan B. Hansen and her husband Gerald "Gerry" of Tewksbury; one son, Stephen L. Berube of Tewksbury; her grandchildren, John Peter Hansen of Tewksbury, Patrick S. Hansen and Laura A. Burns of Tustin, CA, Leslie A. Harrington and John Doherty of Tewksbury, Jennifer A. Boyle and her husband Thomas A. Boyle, IV of Lowell, John P. Harrington, Donald S. Berube and Kayla A. Berube all of Tewksbury; one great grandson, Thomas A. Boyle, V of Lowell; her son-in-law, Paul S. Harrington of Tewksbury; two sisters, Mary Canavan of Newtown Square, PA and Anne DeCarolis and her husband Mario of Meredith, NH; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Theresa "Tess" (Mackey)Berube of Tewksbury, Margaret (MacLellan) Berube of Andover, Judith (Kane) Berube of Tewksbury, Marylou (Berube) Katz and her husband Gerald of Jay, NY; dear friends, Patricia "Patty" Sheehan of Tewksbury and Paul S. Burton of Lowell; also many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Mrs. Berube was the sister of the late Francis B. "Shine" Sheehan and sister-in-law of the late Joseph P. Canavan, Dorothy L. "Dottie" (Brothers) Sheehan, Leo J. Berube and Richard O. Berube. BERUBE Catherine T. "Kay" (Sheehan). Calling hours Thursday, November 20th, from 4-8pm, at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Friday, November 21st, at 9am from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10am at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
