Catherine Gray Obituary

TEMPLE, N.H. - Catherine E. (McDermott) Gray, 92, of Temple, a former nurse at the state hospital in Tewksbury, died Sunday, Oct. 31, following a battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the wife of George Gray, who died Nov. 1, 1965.

She was born in Lowell on Nov. 28, 1911, daughter of Patrick and Kate (Malloy) McDermott. She attended St. Michae School in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School. She continued her education at the Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing, where she obtained her degree as a registered nurse. For 22 years, she lived in Temple with her daughter Patricia and her husband. Previously, she was a longtime Tewksbury resident.

During World War II, Mrs. Gray worked for the Red Cross taking care of injured troops. She worked as a nurse at Tewksbury Hospital for 20 years..

She was a member of the Holy Rosary Society at St. William Church in Tewksbury and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Greenville, N.H. For many years she assisted her husband George, with record keeping and roster preparation for the Tewksbury Little League team the Tigers.

She enjoyed spending time with her dog Bailey and also liked music, flowers, baking as well as making afghans and hooked rugs for family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Yetman and her husband David of Temple; a grandson, Stephen Greeley and his wife Sandra; two granddaughters, Kelley Carey and her husband James and Lisa A. Yetman; and four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Catherine, Allison, and Daniel.

Mrs. Gray was also the sister of the late Thomas McDermott.
