formerly of Lowell; 96

WILTON, NH -- Mrs. Cecile (Martin) Duchesne, age 96, of Wilton, NH, formerly of Lowell, passed away Friday evening, February 17, 2012 at Crestwood Care & Rehab in Milford, NH following a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Edmond (Pete) Duchesne who died in 1975.

She was born in Van Buren, Maine on October 2, 1915, daughter of the late Ludger & Emilie (Beaulieu) Martin. She was raised by her father and step-mother, Marie (Cote) Martin after the death of her biological mother, Emilie in 1918.

A resident of Lowell for most of her life, Mrs. Duchesne was a long time communicant of the former St. Jean Baptiste Church in Lowell's Acre.

Cecile was an affectionate and happy person who made many people smile. She was an avid seamstress, and enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, knitting, reading, music, singing, dancing and time spent with her family and friends.

She began her working years in the mills at Hub Hosiery for several years. She then went on to work for Honeywell and then Sanders for a number of years. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a lab technician for Merrimack Magnetics for 10 years.

She is survived by a daughter Pearl (Duchesne) Rivard of Lowell; two sons, Edmond Duchesne, Jr and his wife, Theresa (Ozella) of Hudson, NH; Dennis Duchesne and his wife, Kathy (Champagne), with whom she resided in Wilton, NH; a dear friend, Brenda Grubbs of Cape Coral, FL., a sister-in-law, Rolande (Duchesne) Clermont of Sun City Center, FL; 12 Grandchildren: David Rivard, Danny Rivard, Shawn Duchesne, Douglas Duchesne, Loriellen (Duchesne) Grande, Tammy (Duchesne) Conroy and husband, Kevin; Donna Duchesne, Denise (Duchesne) Sarault, Danny Duchesne, Debbie Duchesne, Jeffrey Duchesne and Steven Duchesne; 13 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren, also several nieces & nephews.

She was predeceased by: a son, Donald Duchesne; 3 sisters: Agathe Parent and husband, Arthur; Blanche Langlois and husband, Leo, Rose Pelletier and husband, Raoul, a half-brother, Rosaire (Joe) Martin and wife, Cecile (Marcotte), a son-in-law, Roland Rivard, a daughter-in-law, Lorraine (Arsenault) Duchesne, and 3 sisters-in-law: Jeanne (Duchesne) Desjardins and husband, Rene, Blanche (Duchesne) Chandonnet and husband, Fernand, and a brother-in-law, Hector (Cook) Clermont.

Cecile's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Crestwood Health and Rehabilitation Center of Milford, NH for the care, comfort and the kindness extended to her during her stay.

DUCHESNE -- Cecile, 96, of Wilton, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 4 until 8pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at The Parish of St. Rita, 158 Mammoth Rd., Lowell. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
