Clara Vlahos Obituary

Lowell

Clara Vlahos passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 with her loving family by her side.

Clara (aka Kelly & Aunty Kelly) was born on November 23,1931 in Lowell, MA, a daughter of the late Peter and Katina (Banacos) Vlahos.

A lifelong resident of Lowell and Hollywood, CA, Clara attended the Bartlett School, Hollywood High and graduated from Lowell High School.

Clara loved her family, friends, church and animals. She was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where she participated as a volunteer in many church events. She was a member of the Pan Laconian and Leonides Society. Was a volunteer at St. George's Church with the bingo and penny sales.

Clara loved animals and took care of many stray cats in the neighborhood. She helped Lowell TNR, an organization that helps stray cats. Through the years, Clara took many of these strays into her home for care and still has her beautiful cat Buster. She was an avid reader and never forgot to send a birthday card or a special events card. She loved to dance and looked forward to all the Greek picnics and Greek music. Her Greek family, her friends, and her dogs and cats, were the center of her life.

Clara worked at Waldimer Pontiac in Lowell for 18 l/2 years. She retired from the Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA after 20 years as an accountant in the Fiscal Accounting Department.

Clara has many loving friends. In her younger years you could find her dancing at the Commodore Ballroom, spending time at the White Eagle owned by her dear friend Dickie, sunning on the beaches of New England, traveling thru the USA with her friends, Dickie, Emily and Sue. Clara and her Aunt Pep drove back and forth to California many times thru the years.

She is survived by her two brothers, James Vlahos, John Vlahos; two sisters, Tina Porter, Harriet St. Onge, several nephews and dear friends Denise and Dennis Specht, Emily Stys, Catherine Turner, Davia Meas, Mae Martyn, the Santos family and her God-child, Peter Vulgaris.

She is pre-deceased by her brother Harry Vlahos, her sister Lillian Katsiaficas and husband James, her brother-in-law, Chipper St. Onge, sister-in-law, Rhea Vlahos, and her God-son Clint St. Onge, and dear friend Peter Wibber.

Her sister Harriet said, "She is/was the spunkiest person I ever knew. Ask anyone." She was loving, caring, generous and always there when you needed her. She went above and beyond helping her family and her friends. Whenever you needed her, she was there....always there!!

I am so sorry to read of Clara´s passing. She was a great person. I had the privilege to have known her. She always spoke of her siblings and how much her brother liked my koulourakia. I made sure to bring her some every time I baked and she was more than grateful . Sorry I could not be there , I am in California for the holidays visiting my daughter and my grandchildren . I would like to make her forty day tray as last gift to her.

I remember Clara well. She and my Mom, Anita, worked together in Accounting at the Bedford VA. They remained friends after retirement, talking often. When my Mom passed suddenly in 2015, Clara was one of the first people to contact me. She was a wonderful and caring woman. May she Rest In Peace.
