Connor Flanagan Obituary

of Tyngsborough, MA

Connor Michael Flanagan, 24, of Tyngsborough, MA died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his home.

Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of Michael Flanagan and Jennifer (Shepherd) Flanagan, and brother of Mollie Flanagan of Tyngsborough, MA.

Connor graduated from Tyngsborough High School, Tyngsborough, MA, with the class of 2017. He was a graduate of Westfield State University with a bachelor's degree in communication with the class of 2021. At Westfield, Connor was most proud of his time with the Westfield State Football Team, where he worked as a team manager and special assistant. Connor was an avid college football fan and particularly cherished his many trips to South Bend to support his favorite team, Notre Dame.

Diagnosed at age 6 with leukemia, Connor battled cancer for over 17 years enduring a bone marrow transplant and a bilateral lung transplant. His optimism and perseverance was appreciated by the staff at Boston Children's Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Brigham and Women's Hospital, many of whom were still in close contact with him.

Connor is survived by his maternal grandmother, Sherryl Shepherd of Lowell, MA, his paternal grandparents, Richard and Brenda Flanagan of Chelmsford, MA, and his aunts and uncles, Jon and Patricia Shepherd of Lowell, MA, Peter and Sharon Flanagan of Wilmington, DE, and Derek and Sandra Flanagan of Chelmsford, MA, as well as his many cousins. Connor is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Robert Shepherd of Lowell, MA, who died in September, 1991.

Connor's visiting hours will be Mon. from 3 to 7 pm at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX STREET, N. CHELMSFORD, MA. Funeral Tues. at 10 am at the Lawrence Street Primitive Methodist Church in Lowell. Burial in Lowell Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to Boston Children's Hospital or to support Drs. Silk, LeBouef and Schmults in the Cutaneous (Skin) Cancer Treatment Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284. I had the pleasure of knowing Conner through my daughter Emily, a classmate of his. Whenever I would see him, he was always ebullient and filled with esprit de cour. He was a force to be reckoned with. He was brave, big hearted and always kind. Although I didn´t know him well, I, and everyone in town knew of him. He was loved and admired by so many and he will be deeply missed and never forgotten. May you rest in peace dear Connor.
