Cornelius James Lynch
formerly of Lowell

On Wednesday, August 8, 2018 Cornelius James Lynch of Potomac, MD. "Connie" or "Neil," as he was known to acquaintances, was born in Lowell, MA on October 19, 1931. Having been raised there, he has maintained ties to Lowell where family and friends still live.

Son of the late Thomas Patrick and Catherine Mahoney Lynch, he is survived by his wife, Marjorie of 55 years; children, Patrick (George Rocawich) and Cathlyn Lynch and grandson, Gregory. He is also survived by seven nieces and seven nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers William and Thomas Lynch, and his sister Barbara Walsh. Dr. Lynch completed his undergraduate studies at Catholic University, earned an M.A. in Mathematics from Georgetown University, and a Ph.D. in Statistics from American University.

During his career, Dr. Lynch held positions with many companies and with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the field of Mathematical Statistics as well as holding several teaching positions. He served as an active member of various professional societies and authored numerous articles in scientific journals.
