I learned of his passing just today...my heart is very heavy. I am Pamela McQueen (64), one of Dr Berman's very first patients in 1954. He was also greatest employer and very dear friend to my mother (Charlotte) for many years. Wonderful and unforgettable friend to myself, as years later I had the pleasure of babysitting Cynthia and Douglas in the mid 60s...that was a lovely experience with Dr and Dorette. Beautiful, extremely talented, compassionate and kind man indeed. Donald Berman really LOVED being a doctor. So fortunate am I to have known him.

My condolences to Dr. Berman's family. My two girls, who are now in their thirties, loved him as their pediatrician. They were never afraid to go to the doctor and felt he really cared about them. He had a special gift of giving to children which we as a family will never forget. We will always have that nurturing spirit to remember.

My condolences to the family of Dr. Berman. My mother, Mary Lou McGaughey Doherty knew and worked with him as a nurse many years ago. I remember him making house calls to our home when I was a child. But we were never afraid of him, as he had a sense of humor. He was a local institution.

Dr. Berman was the pediatrician for my entire family. He was an excellent doctor as well as a very nice man. I remember our family even went skiing with his family a few times - many years ago at Groton Hills. My oldest sister Lynn was one of his very first patients.

The thoughts and prayers of the Mercier Family are with all of you at this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Don's passing.
Over the years many patients asked me--and always with hopeful anticipation-- if I was related to him.
My answer was always the same: no, I'm not, but I would have considered it an honor to have been.
An unforgettable hero.
