Doreen Cormier Obituary

Doreen E. (Ethier) Cormier, age 64, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at Steward Holy Family Hospital on Sunday, March 12, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Webster on July 3, 1958, and was the daughter of Joanne Charlotte (Maguire) Delano and the late Ronald Noe Ethier.

Doreen attended Wilmington High School and graduated from North Reading High School. She later enrolled in The Art Institute of Boston, earning a Fine Art certificate. She was passionate about art and created beautiful etchings and stained-glass pieces, which were displayed in her home or gifted to loved ones. She applied her talent as a graphic designer with several philanthropic organizations, including annual event programs for the House of Hope. Doreen loved the outdoors, enjoyed skiing and spending time at the beach, the mountains, and the lakes of New Hampshire. The annual trip to Lake Winnipesaukee was a favorite where she would spend time at the Meredith Yacht Club with family and friends. She adored traveling, especially to the Caribbean. An animal lover, Doreen had a special fondness for horses and dogs, especially her dog Sparkie.

In addition to her loving mother, Doreen is survived by her children, Jamie J. Cormier and her long-time partner Anna Walther of Newport, RI, and Devon D. Cormier and her long-time partner Michael Ruiz of Dracut; her sister, Denise Dolan and her husband Thomas of Dracut; her long-time friend, Doug McMillan; her former mother-in-law, Claire Cormier; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she is predeceased by her former father-in-law, Gerald Cormier.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 17th from 4pm to 7pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am at St. Francis, 115 Wheeler Rd, DRACUT. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, HAVERHILL.

I just learned of Doreen's passing. So sad to hear that. We were buddies at The Art Institute. We met there only to find out our parents knew each other as I was born in Webster too. We were two of the three etching majors. We lost touch unfortunately. I still have a bowl and my favorite tea cup ever that Doreen made in ceramics. Peace to her family. Jayne

So many wonderful times spent with Doreen on girls annual get aways to Maine and New Hampshire. Times filled with laughs and friendship. Fond memories of hiking and enjoying the outdoors and much time spent talking about her children Jamie and Devon who she was so proud of and to whom she was a devoted loving mother. Doreen you are a wonderful person who gave so much to other people.
