Edward Stanulonis Obituary

Edward F. Stanulonis Courier Citizen Employee, LHS Basketball Captain LOWELL Edward F. Stanulonis, a Back Central Street resident, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Lowell General Hospital, after a courageous one year battle with brain cancer. He was 73 years old. Edward was born in Lowell, on March 10, 1935, a son of the late Romeo and Petronella (Buja) Stanulonis. He attended Lowell Schools and was a member of the Lowell High School graduating class of 1953. Edward was Captain of the Lowell High School Basketball Team and received the Most Valuable Player Award for the 1952-53 season. Upon graduation, Mr. Stanulonis enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Yosemite. He was honorably discharged following two years of service. Mr. Stanulonis was employed for many years as a Compositor at the Courier Citizen Corporation in Lowell. He was later employed with the Raytheon Corporation until his retirement. Mr. Stanulonis was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph's Lithuanian Church in Lowell. Mr. Stanulonis was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed supporting his New York Football Giants, Atlanta Braves and the Boston Celtics. He was fortunate to see two of his teams win world championships during the current football and basketball seasons. Surviving Mr. Stanulonis are his brothers, John Stanulonis of Lowell, with whom he made his home, and Stanley Stanulonis of Las Vegas, NV; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Mr. Stanulonis was the guardian of George E. Santos, Jr., retired Lowell Police Sergeant, of Pepperell and Francis J. Santos, retired IRS International Examiner, also of Pepperell. He also leaves his special health care provider, Cynthia "Nurse Ratched" Santos of Pepperell. Mr. Stanulonis was the brother of the late Alex, Paul, Frank, and Albert Stanulonis, and Helen Santos and Joanna Devine. Mr. Stanulonis was also the longtime companion of Lorraine Longtin who passed away in 2000. STANULONIS In Lowell, July 22, 2008 at Lowell General Hospital. Edward F. Stanulonis, 73, lifelong Lowell resident. At his request, there will be no visiting hours. Mr. Stanulonis Funeral will begin FRIDAY MORNING at 9 o'clock at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 o'clock at HOLY FAMILY PARISH ST. MARIE'S CHURCH, corner of Chamberlain & Grafton Sts. Lowell. His burial will be private. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory may be made to the New England Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 852, Ayer, MA 01432. Uncle Eddie,
