Geraldine McConnell Obituary

Geraldine "Gerri" Shirley (Sousa) McConnell, age 87, of Littleton, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Robbins Brook Senior Living home with her family by her side.

Loving wife of the late Alfred J. McConnell Jr., Geraldine was born in Cambridge on February 02, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Gordon and Alma (Sousa) Perry. Raised and educated in Cambridge, Gerri attended St. Johns High School and graduated in 1953. From there, she went on to work as an apprentice at Lincoln Laboratories where she stayed until 1962. Married in 1956, Alfred and Gerri purchased their first home in Maynard in 1962, settled, and together raised their family.

They moved to Littleton in 1971 and quickly became active members of the community. Gerri was an Avid member of the Littleton Rotary and Littleton Garden clubs. As a devout member of Saint Anne's Church, Gerri served as a Eucharistic Minister with the Ministry of Hope. She remained employed as a freelance journalist and wrote for many local newspapers including the Lowell Sun, Littleton Independent and the Boston Globe. After raising her three sons, she went back to work full time as a technical writer at Digital Corp.

Although she loved her work and service to her community, family was the greatest joy of Gerri's life. Gerri instilled a strong public-spirited mindset in her children from an early age simply by being a great example. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Gerri was a dear friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Geraldine is survived by her children, Rob McConnell of Barre, MA, Mark McConnell and husband Adam Coroniti of Sarasota, FL, and Kevin McConnell of Leominster, her two grandsons, Stephen and David McConnell as well as her pride and joy, her great-granddaughter, Alaina. In addition to her husband, Geraldine was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Alma (Sousa) Perry.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Geraldine for a period of visitation on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton. Her Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 75 King Street, Littleton. Geraldine will be laid to rest following the Mass at Westlawn Cemetery, 7 New Estate Road, Littleton.
