Longtime Chelmsford resident, Army Vet; 83

CHELMSFORD -- Harold W. Chittick, 83, a resident of Chelmsford for over 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Heenan) Chittick, with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage before her death in 2011.

He was born in Dorchester on September 19, 1930, and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Driscoll) Chittick.

Harold served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, and retired from Raytheon Company after 40 years of employment in their Lowell location.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending summers in Chatham and winters in Naples, FL with frequent visits from family and grandchildren.

Most of all, Harold was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time in the company of his family.

He is survived by his devoted children, Michael Chittick and his wife, Deborah of North Andover, Cindy Houle and her husband, Dennis of Winchester, Caroline McCutcheon and her husband, Dean of Centerville, and Harold Chittick, Jr. of North Andover; and 10 loving grandchildren, Leah, Colleen and Julia Chittick, Maggie, Katie, and Jack Houle, Norah and Cameron McCutcheon, and Ainsley and Samuel Chittick.

He was the father of the late Robert J. Chittick who passed away in 2002. He is also predeceased by his five siblings; Constance Hamrock, Theodore, Priscilla, Barbara, and Colette Chittick.

CHITTICK -- HAROLD W. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 o'clock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
