Isabel Chavez Obituary

Hampton, NH

Isabel (Silva) Chavez, 69, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Lowell, MA, departed this world on Saturday, December 30, 2023. For over 40 years, she was the loving wife of the late Edulfo Chavez who passed away in November 2022, marking the start of a decline in her health.

Born on October 13, 1954, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, Isabel was the cherished daughter of the late Manuel Silva and the late Merces (Espinola) Silva. She embarked on a new chapter in 1974 when she immigrated to the United States with her family, eventually settling in Lowell. Demonstrating resilience and determination, she resumed her education and successfully earned her Bachelor's degree.

Isabel's professional journey led her through various roles, starting in Altotronics, where she first crossed paths with her future husband. Subsequently, she contributed her skills to Wang Labs before dedicating over 25 years to Charles River Labs, where she retired as the Director of Human Resources.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Isabel found joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a passion for cooking, baking and hosting family events. She enjoyed traveling, particularly relishing moments spent exploring Aruba alongside her husband. Her love for family was unparalleled, and she took great delight in spending time with her grandchildren. As a devoted member of the local Portuguese community, she actively participated in cultural events, a communicant of Saint Anthony's Church, and a cherished attendee of the Holy Ghost Feasts.

Isabel is survived by her loving children, Tanya Chavez and her fiancé, Craig Lesage of Hampton, NH, and Ryan Chavez and his wife, Joleen of Dracut. Her memory lives on through her adored grandchildren, Alina, Avery, and Andrew Chavez, as well as her grand dogs.

In addition she leaves her brother and sisters in law; Zoila Greenlay and her husband, Lance of Haverhill, Ramona Chavez of Tyngsboro, Kleber Chavez and his wife, Jeannette of Dracut and Santy Chavez of Florida, and also her friend and former sister in law, Helena Silva of Lowell. She is also survived by many adored nieces, nephews and friends.

She is predeceased by her brother Manuel Belmiro Silva, and her brother in law Salvador Chavez.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org)

Isabel was such a sweet lady and will be missed by many.

She always had a smile on her face and goodies to share for neighborhood parties at the beach.
