James Fenton Obituary

James J. Fenton Pelham, NH, born in Cambridge; 81 Pelham, NH James J. Fenton, 81, of Pelham, NH, a former 8 term Representative from Pelham to the State of New Hampshire, of Pelham, NH, died Monday at his home. He was the husband of Mary T. (Yout) Fenton with whom he would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on November 25, 2007. Born in Cambridge, December 4, 1925, the son of the late William J. and the late Mary (Murphy) Fenton, he received his education in the Cambridge School System. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Donnell Destroyer Escort 56. Before his retirement, he was a Service Technician for New England Telephone, now known as Verizon, for over 35 years. Mr. Fenton was a member of St. Patrick Church in Pelham. Active in Pelham Town Politics, he was the former Town Moderator and served in various Town Boards and Committees. Among his many accomplishments, as a State Representative, the Honorable James J. Fenton, was instrumental in helping to establish the only New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH in 1997. The Past Commander of State Chapter of the American Legion and the Pelham American Legion Post 100, he was also the Past State Commander of the 40 & 8. Mr. Fenton was also the co-founder of the New Hampshire Association for Retarded Citizens. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters Deborah M. Celino of Wentworth, NH and Donna E. Fenton of Pelham, NH; a son Kevin M. Fenton of Pelham, NH; two grandchildren Scott Celino and Tammy Tracy; two great-grandchildren Hailee Maynard and Alea Tracy; a sister Irene Lanata of Pembroke; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fenton was also the father of the late James W. Fenton who died in 1991. FENTON In Pelham, Oct. 1, 2007, at his home, James J. Fenton, 81, a former NH State Representative, husband of Mary T. (Yout) Fenton. Friends may call at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 11 NASHUA RD, PELHAM, NH from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Friday morning at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME at 10 o'clock. Burial in the NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Those wishing may make contributions to the NH Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH 03303. Arrangements by Funeral Directors John W. Crane and James F.
