James Rowbotham Obituary

James M. Rowbotham
Loving Husband,

Father, and Grandfather

LOWELL - James M. "Jim" Rowbotham, 75, a longtime resident of South Lowell, but more recently of Salem, NH and Methuen, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2018, at the High Point House in Haverhill. Jim was the beloved husband of Diane D. (Dumont) Rowbotham.

James was born in Lowell on April 18, 1943, a son of the late James J. and Annette J. (Dumont) Rowbotham. He was a graduate of St. Marie's Grammar School and St. Joseph's Boys High School, Class of 1962.

Jim was employed as a Truck Driver with Baxter Hospital Supply. He enjoyed Classic Cars. Jim loved attending car shows and working on cars. A true family man, Jim was happiest when around his family, his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren. Jim and Diane enjoyed many Summer Sundays at York Beach, Maine with their family, and later at the Lake. They also enjoyed many camping vacations. Jim quite simply enjoyed just sitting back and watching everyone around him have fun.

Jim is survived by his wife Diane Rowbotham of Methuen; his four children, James "Spanky" Rowbotham, Jr. of Tewksbury, Tammy and Jim Demers of Lowell, John and Michelle Rowbotham of Tyngsborough, and Cindy Rowbotham and Dan Jones of Methuen; his six grandchildren, Christina Demers, Alexander Demers, John Rowbotham, Deborah Rowbotham, Darren Jones, and Brady Jones; his sisters, Doris Boulé and Roger Geoffroy of Lowell, and Ann Marie and George Hansen of Lowell; and a sister-in-law, Simone Berube and Bob Torcoletti. Jim also leaves his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many close friends, including his best friend Roger Geoffroy.

Jim was the brother of the late Joan Marie Rowbotham, who passed away as a baby, and Richard "Rocky" Rowbotham. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Carol Rowbotham, and Roland "Sonny" Dumont, and son-in-law of the late George and Martha Dumont.

ROWBOTHAM - At Jim's request, calling hours have been omitted. Private family Funeral Services will take place, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, E. Chelmsford.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Jim's memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452 or to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence, MA 01843.

The entire Rowbotham family, especially Jim & Diane, we're so good to our son Todd. He has so many wonderful childhood memories with all of you. (I know he really enjoyed those forays to the dump & riding in the wagon helping deliver newspapers!) We we're so lucky to have him in your care...never had a moment's concern while we were at school. Your kindness to our family will never be forg. RIP, Jim.

I moved to So Lowell as a young boy in 1957. "Jimmy" was one of the very first to befriend me. Triple dates with him and Diane in his "51 Ford". So many great memories of our teen years.
Rest in peace, my friend.
