Janet, I know you’re watching over us all now just as you did when you’re physical form was with us. Remember that girls’ weekend at the Cape when we each brought an object to represent something about our self? We anonymously put the objects in a pile. When I pulled the sponge out of the pile for us to guess who brought it, everyone instantly said “Janet.” And it was true—we all recognized your very special ability to “soak up” the problems of others, give sage advice, and help “clean up” any aftermath of the problem. In fact just a month ago you gave me advice about how daughters can deal with the death of their mother (because mine had just passed). In one sense, I’ll miss you so much after our 23 year friendship; in another sense, your grace and kindness will always be with me.

Dear Bill and Family-
We were so sad to hear about Janet's death. She was an inspiration to all of us, with her fortitude and courage in coping with her dreadful illness.
I feel so fortunate to have met with her last spring at the Isabella Steward Gardner museum and to have helped to edit her book, on the Mount Benedict convent fire. I loved reading it and felt privileged she asked me.
I also remember many happy times with the ladies from Northeastern, especially at your house on the Cape.
Please know that Janet is indeed in our prayers always.
Love, Jim and Claire

Dear Bill and Family -
It will come as no surprise that you (Mr. Carr) and Janet (Miss Hamilton) meant the world to those of us in the LJHClass of ’64. We cherished that time and cherished the bond that kept us in touch throughout Medford High School and beyond. We felt we had a special relationship, constantly urging you, Bill, to get to know our beautiful, intelligent, and all-around lovely English teacher. I suspect you didn’t need us at all, although we like to believe that we had a special hand in bringing you together. We rejoiced when you married and were thrilled to be invited to your home to meet your new baby. You were our “Camelot” couple.
If thoughts and prayers can help ease the pain of your significant loss, then you have an abundance of both. Janet was a strong and accomplished woman. She touched so many lives throughout her academic career. It is clear that she was loved and admired. As you celebrate her meaningful life, know that she is remembered warmly by the many she nurtured and inspired.
Wishing you peace and strength,
Donna Chiozzi and Family

Aunt Janet's passing seems strange to me having not seen her sick. Like her mother (Grammy), such vibrant women's passing take time to accept. My sympathy is heart felt, your sorrow is as our sorrow was for my dad. It is painful but sister shall see brother again. See you all Wednesday. Love, Philip

Dear Bill, Billy, Doug, Maura and Greg: Janet was a dear friend to my mom Betsey, as you know. And their ongoing, special relationship over the many decades made me love and appreciate your wife/mom- as a simple matter of fact. The Zinzer family greatly cherishes the Carr family. And we send you love and prayers. We express our condolences to all her other family members as well. Janet was a beautiful, wise, patient, and engaging woman. I will remember many special times- especially those that involved the beach, the pretty family home in Medford, and Hermit cookies.

Dear Bill, Billy, Doug, Maura, and Greg and your families,
My heart is broken to have lost my dear, dear friend. She was an amazing woman with a peace radiating from her. Patient, loving, empathetic, she put the needs of others before her own. Never did she complain of the great distress, pain, or the inevitability which her diagnosis brought with it. She loved you all so deeply and had such a well of compassion for everyone she met. Her deep spirituality was a model of true Christianity. She lived love... of family, God, and friends. I miss her with all my being, but I smile, knowing that we have an angel waiting to greet us when our time comes. I will hold onto the memories of special moments we shared and with the memory of the gentleness of Janet as a guide and a profound gift. As she asked, I will keep her... and you... in my prayers always. God bless you and give you strength during this sad time. She is at peace, free of pain. That is the lessing we have now.
Love and peace to you all,
Diane "Gulino" Abramson and Family

I never knew Janet personally but I am a friend of he son Doug. Through the years of hearing all the stories of Janet that Doug has shared with me and having been able to spend time with Doug on the Cape in his parents house, I had grown to admire her. At the Cape house: I loved her flowers that she planted, watching the pretty birds that would visit and I always felt at home in her house by the way she decorated it, it was so Cape style. For all of you that was apart of this wonderful woman’s life - I know that you will always cherish her and feel so lucky to have known her.
My prayers and thoughts are with you,
Crystal
