Jeffrey Hillman Obituary

Tewksbury

Jeffrey E. 'Jeff' Hillman, 76 of Tewksbury, passed away after a lengthy battle with his illness on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Cetrullo) Hillman with whom he shared the last 22 years.

He was born on September 23, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio and was a son of the late Bert Hillman and the late Helen (Janas) Hillman. He was also the brother of the late Fred Hillman. He was raised in the Toledo area where he attended Whittier Elementary School before graduating from DeVilbiss High School with the class of 1962. He then graduated from the University of Toledo in 1966 with his degree in Biology and Engineering. Jeff was then drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. He spent the last 30 years as a resident of Tewksbury, MA.

?Jeffrey Hillman was one of the most talented and professional O & M specialists in the industry and a master of commissioning. He spent decades in the industry most recently as the Sr. O & M Specialist at AECOM water. Jeff's contributions led to the success of such major infrastructure projects as the Central Artery Project (while with Bechtel) and at the Boston Harbor Project -The Deer Island Treatment Plant, (while with PSG, US Filter, and Metcalf & Eddy). In addition to Jeff's professional expertise, his generosity in sharing information and mentoring others led to countless younger professionals excelling in the industry

He enjoyed traveling the world and accomplished traveling to all 7 continents with his wife, Linda. He was a beer connoisseur and loved spending time reading and listening to music, especially the Blues while enjoying a craft beer. He will be remembered for his eccentric personality and the annual family Christmas parties which became legendary.

In addition to his wife, Linda Hillman of Tewksbury, he is survived by his daughter, Wendy Newhall of Peabody; and his son, Daniel Sigman of Peabody; his daughter Beth Grogan of New York, and son Eric Hillman of Minnesota, his grandchildren, Brady Fisher of Beverly, Mason, Cassidy, Max; and his siblings, Debby Light and her husband, Ken of South Carolina, and Nick Hillman and his wife, Carol of Maryland. I am so sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the Hillman family during this very difficult time. Remembering all the good times we had in West Toledo, Pilgrim Church and DeVilbiss High School. I have sent a copy of Jeff's Obituary to the Editor of the Tiger Rag for publishing in the next Tiger Rag. Peace and love to all.

I spent several years working with and getting to know Jeff in the 1990’s while working for PSG on the Deer Island project. He was an excellent and knowledgeable O&M expert in the wastewater field. He got along with everyone. The industry has lost a true professional.

Jeff was a true friend, a great colleague and a wonderful guy to work with. He would always seek the truth of a given matter and never make assumptions. I will always remember him on the various wastewater treatment projects that we shared - he was a valuable asset to me then and an inspiration to those that surrounded him. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
