Jesus Rivera Obituary
LOWELL - Jesus Manuel Rivera, age 38, a lifelong resident of Lowell died March 13, 2023.
He was born in Lowell on September 17, 1984, and was a son of Martina (Ruiz) Figueroa and his Step-Father Anthony Figueroa of Lowell. He received his education in the Lowell schools and was a graduate of the Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter School. He also attended Middlesex Community College.
Jesus was employed as a piper by Keolis and was a member of SMART Local 139. Earlier in life he worked as an iron worker with Local 7 Iron Workers and as a personal fitness trainer.
In his free time, Jesus could be found most days working out or boxing at the gym.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, Jesus is survived by his son, Jhavian Rivera; his companion, Jennifer Cody; his stepson, Amari Martinez, all of Westford; two brothers, Jose Rivera and his wife Virginia Alvarez of Lowell and Anthony Figueroa and his wife Krysta McCarthy of Milford, NH; four sisters, LaTonya Collins and her husband Timothy Collins of Lowell, Krystal Rivera of Fort Myers, FL, Nikita Perez and her husband Brian Perez of Milford, MA, Shyanne Signoretti of Milford, MA and father, Jose Rivera, of Lowell, MA; eight nieces and nephews, Kelis Morales, Anthony Rivera, Aidan Collins, Kianna Figueroa, Adela Rivera, Nevaeh Collins, Aleister Perez and Phoenix Perez; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jesus' Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Tuesday from 9:00 until 11:00am followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:00pm at St. Patrick Church in Lowell. Lil Jenny. Nana joined Grampy on the "17th" anniversary of his passing. I was with her in the room. I was also in the room when her mother passed. Puk, I miss you! Our banter love language, laughs, 30 second hugs, our mutual adoration for these kids. I will always cherish our last dances, bachata and a slow jam, while we got ready for the gloves in February. You are always my boxing partner. Grief has its hooks in me and I do my best not to burden the kids with it. They offer me a lot of patience and grace, though. More than I probably deserve. I guess they always had to with us. We needed it.
Jhavian continues to be exceptional, as you know. Despite his own grief, honor roll all year, high honors 4th quarter. I don´t know another 15 year old that spends his weekends studying. We read a lot of literature together. He´s been networking with all the private schools that produce D1 athletes, sending out his grades and attending clinics. We are planning a tour of LSU this fall, any chance I can to get to NOLA. Luckily, I started him early so he loves it there too. I didn´t even realize Jhavian´s football number is 38. You are also 38 and evergreen my love. I have felt your love and received your messages through all of this. I love you mucho mucho. I miss you immensely. Forever yours- Jenny Xoxo
