He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (MacDonald) Corby.
He was born in Lowell, Aug. 1, 1940, son of the late John J. and Anne (Gentz) Corby. He graduated from Lowell High School and attended Merrimack College in North Andover.
He lived and worked on Cape Cod for 30 years. Previously, he lived in Ireland and became an Irish citizen, in honor of his heritage, family members said.
For many years, Mr. Corby was the owner and operator of Edson's in Dennisport on Cape Cod, a trendy clothing store for women.
He enjoyed traveling. He will be remembered by family members as a private person, though always gentle, caring and giving.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Frances (Corby) and Albert Andrade of Lowell; two aunts, Rita Stanton of Lowell, and Mary Dufrene, residing in Florida; and several cousins.
He also leaves a brother-in-law, Bruce MacDonald of Tewksbury;
