He was born and educated in Lowell, a son of the late Antonio and Guilimena (Martin) Gouveia.
Mr. Gouveia served with the Navy during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Gouveia was employed as a carpenter with the C & G Ceiling Co.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy Gouveia-Fentross and her husband Jeff of Tewksbury, Brenda Gouveia, Lisa Martin and Susan Gouveia, all of Lowell; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Gouveia and his wife Peggy, residing in Florida; a sister, Loretta Whitney of Dracut; eight grandchildren, Jonathan and Brittany Fentross both of Tewksbury, Amy and Jessica Gouveia, both of Shrewsbury, Tabatha Gouveia of Lowell, Daniel Martin in New Hampshire, Colleen Marion and her husband Eric of Dracut, and Christine Gouveia of Lowell; and four great-grandchildren.

Tom and Loretta, I extend my sincerest condolences to you both on the loss of your brother. I fondly remember those happy times up on the "Hill" where Cousin John and I would engage in our competitive activities. I will forever cherish those memories.
