of Tyngsboro, honored for work with
Ford Motor Co., Air Force vet; 63

TYNGSBORO -- John Patrick Kirwin, 63, died suddenly on March 9th, 2010, at his home in Tyngsboro where he lived since 1983.

Born in Lowell, MA on January 1st, 1947, the eldest child of the late John F. and Bernadette C. (Russell) Kirwin of Lowell.

John attended Lowell public schools and graduated from Lowell high school.

At the age of 17, he joined the Air Force and traveled around the world. One of his fondest memories in the service was working in the operating room.

John had a successful career in sales and sales management winning numerous awards with Ford Motor Company. His enthusiasm for sales and his love of cars was contagious. Customers and colleagues truly enjoyed his company and he made many friends throughout New England.

He enjoyed working in his home and yard, watching NASCAR, and taking walks at the beach with his wife.

John's three grandchildren were the greatest source of joy in his life and he spent most of his time with them. They loved "Papa" very much and will miss him dearly everyday.

John is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Carol (Cavossa) Kirwin, with whom he would have celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary in May, his daughter, Juliane (Kirwin) Leary, his son-in-law Ted Leary and his three wonderful grandchildren, Rebecca, Ethan and Sophia Leary, all of Nashua, NH.

Members of his loving family include his brother, Michael and his wife, Tatiana of The Villages, Florida; his brother, Dennis and his wife, Denise (Pelletier) of Hudson, NH; his sister, Mary (Kirwin) Landry and her husband, Mike of Lowell, MA; and his sister-in-law, Linda (Garabedian) Kirwin of Dracut, MA. His nieces and nephews include Scott and Jenn (Berard) Kirwin of Reading, MA; Katie Kirwin of Dracut, MA; Kathleen Kirwin of Hudson, NH; Christopher Kirwin of Boston, MA, and Leah Landry of Lowell, MA.

KIRWIN -- Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Kathryn Church in Hudson, NH. Burial in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in his name to the Academy of Notre Dame Annual Fund, 180 Middlesex Rd., Tyngsboro, MA 01879.

I just heard the news today and i will miss him dearly. I used to work with John and he was a great man. he taught me everything I know in this auto industry.I met him back in 1993 .My condolences go out to his family. I know from working with him he loved his wife and daughter very much and his grandchildren were everything to him.

JOHN WAS MY COUSIN ON MY MOTHERS SIDE.(MY MOM WAS HIS AUNT LEONA) MY MEMORIES GO BACK TO ANNUAL SUMMER VISITS WHEN WE STAYED AT NANA'S HOUSE IN TYNGSBORO. I ALSO REMEMBER SOME FUN AND INTERESTING TIMES VISITING IN HIS UPSTAIRS HOME IN UNCLE JACKS FUNERAL PARLOR IN LOWELL.
IM SAD TO SAY I HAVE HAD NO CONTACT WITH JOHN FOR CLOSE TO 50 YEARS. I REMEMBER HIM AS A VERY NICE BUT TUFF STREETWISE KID FROM LOWELL.

I worked with John for many years in the car business both as a salesman and manager. He was one of the warmest and upbeat people i ever met. We talked 3 weeks ago and he was full of enthusiasm. I truely loved John and will miss him.
