Joseph Fucarile Obituary

CHELMSFORD - With great sadness we share the passing of Joseph R. Fucarile Jr., age 70, a longtime Chelmsford resident. Joe passed away peacefully on Sunday October 17, 2021 at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Faith (Gurry) Fucarile with whom he enjoyed 47 years of marriage.

He was born in Woburn, MA on February 9, 1951 and was the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Murphy) Fucarile. He was raised in Reading, MA and attended Austin Prep and Merrimack College. Joe started his career in insurance with Sentry Insurance where he worked for 29 years, and then took his vast experience and knowledge to Garrity Insurance Agency in Cambridge, MA, as Senior Vice President, where he would passionately work until days before he passed.

Joe's life revolved around his family. His favorite statement was, "These are the best days of our lives!" anytime he was with his family. He met his wife, Faith, when they were teenagers in high school and was blessed with 53 years of wonderful memories together. Travel and vacations were a huge part of their lives, and when their three kids, spouses, and grandchildren came along, travel and vacationing continued to destinations such as Newport, RI, Disney, and beyond.

He became very involved with the Academy of Notre Dame (Tyngsboro), the school his three children attended for over 15 years. He started out leading the Men's Club, then the Parents' Club, and eventually served on the Board of Directors, elected as Chairman of the Board for twelve years. He loved engaging in every event his children were involved in at NDA and was excited to recently see his grandchildren at the school, continuing this legacy. Joe was loved and admired by everyone who knew him. In addition to being a husband, father, and grandfather, he was a coach, mentor, friend, confidant, teacher, and father-figure for an incredible amount of people across his life. His smile lit up a room and his kindness and generosity toward others were never forgotten by any who met him.

In addition to the love of his life, his wife, Faith, Joe is survived by the three most important people in his life, his children, whom he cherished beyond words: his daughter, Kelly (Fucarile) Johnston and husband Scott of Windham, NH; his son Jeffrey and wife Brittany of Eliot, ME; and his son Bryan and wife Laura of Nashua, NH. Joe also leaves the little loves of his life, whom he thought the sun rose and set on, his six grandchildren: Brady Johnston, Beckett Johnston, Giuliana Fucarile, Jackson Fucarile, Avery Fucarile and Eleanor Fucarile. He is also survived by his sister Debra Lackey of Amherst, NH.

Funeral services and Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Let There Be Light Campaign at the Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro: www.ndatyngsboro.org/memorial/ or by mailing memorial donations directly to the Academy of Notre Dame, 180 Middlesex Rd., Tyngsboro, MA 01879. The family requests all who loved Joe to share a personal memory, story, or photo to his memorial email account: [email protected]

My deepest sympathy to Faith and the entire Fucarelle Family. We are all so saddened by this loss of a truely `Good Man´. Joe had a positive generous spirit and always a welcoming smile for everyone....young and old alike. Joe left behind beautiful children and grandchildren in every way, that will carry on his legacy of goodness, kindness, caring and enthusiasm for life, making the world a better place. I´m certain he is in Heaven now watching over all of them.Blessings to all. Rest In Peace Joe. Amen

Joe worked with my dad, Dave Busfield, back in the 80's and then most recently with my brother, Glenn Busfield at Garrity. Joe & Faith even came to our wedding back in '86 - I know my dad really wanted them to be on the guest list as he thought the world of Joe. Glenn told us how good he was at his job, and how highly he prioritized his family, and how much he enjoyed his friendship. I know he will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. My dad (David) and my brother (Glenn) both worked with Joe and spoke so highly of him as a man of integrity and kindness, and someone who cared deeply for his family. He will no doubt be missed by many.
