CHELMSFORD -- Jozsef E. Putz, 78, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died Monday, June 4th, at Lowell General Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband of Ethel M. (Lynch) Putz, with whom he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary in February.

He was born in Hungary on March 23, 1934, and was the son of the late Jozsef and Teres (Schuster) Putz. He received his education in Hungary schools and attended horticultural school.

Prior to his retirement, Jozsef was employed for 25 years as a folding machine operator by Courier Citizen in Westford.

He was an avid gardener and he enjoyed cooking, dancing, and spending time in the company of his family, especially his adoring grandchildren who meant the world to him.

In addition to his wife, Jozsef is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisza and Thomas Elliot of Hudson, NH, AnnaMarie and Richard Watson of Chelmsford, and Amie and Russell Gibson of Hudson, NH; eight grandchildren, Samantha Watson, Heather Gibson, Brittany Gibson, Richard Watson II, Ian Elliot, Alex Elliot, Jacob Gibson and Joshua Gibson; a soon to be great-granddaughter, Sophia; two sisters, Anna Ebele and Francisca Tittmann, both of Hungary; and many nieces and nephews in Hungary and the United States.

PUTZ -- Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Wednesday from 3 until 7 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford on Thursday at 11 o'clock. Please meet at church. Burial will be private.
