of Pelham, NH, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister; 70

PELHAM, NH -- Maureen (Prescott) Souza, 70, of Pelham, NH, died Tuesday evening, August 17, 2010, at Saints Medical Center, Lowell.

She was the beloved wife of Dominick M. Souza of Pelham, NH with whom she would have celebrated 47 years of marriage on September 15, 2010.

Born in Lowell on January 29, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Horman) Prescott. She received her education in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of Lowell High School class of 1958.

In her early years, Mrs. Souza had been employed as a stitcher by the former Casual Footwear in Lowell. After the birth of her children, Maureen lovingly devoted her life to tending to the needs of her family.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, and trips to Foxwoods. Her most cherished times were spent in the company of her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Pattie Vallante and her husband, Allan of Pelham, NH, Tammy Hoey of Nashua, NH; one son, Dominick M. Souza Jr. of Hudson, NH; four grand-children, Allan and Kayla Vallante and Michael and Ashley Hoey; Maureen was expected to be a great grandmother to her great-grandson, Jayden Michael Hoey; three sisters, Janice DePalma and her husband, John of North Chelmsford, Sharon Wourgiotis and her husband, Charlie of Hudson, NH, and Cookie Charette and her husband, Carol of Florida; two brothers, Leo Prescott and his wife, Pauline of Lowell, and Robert Prescott of Lowell; two sisters-in-law, Alice Prescott of Dracut, and Pat Balash of New York; a brother-in-law, Nick Poulilkakos of Nashua, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Joan Poulilkakos and Gerald Prescott. She also has two step sisters, Theresa and Rita Prescott.

SOUZA -- Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Sunday from 2 until 6 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday at 9 AM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in St. Patrick Church, Pelham, NH. Interment in Gibson Cemetery, Pelham, NH.
