We never knew how deeply Michael impacted so many people. Each of you had your own special spot in his heart and in his mind. We thank you for sharing your pieces of him- his spirit, his energy, his love, his devilishness, his commitment and compassion through whatever means you use. There´s been stories, texts, calls, cards, donations, flowers, food, drink, visits, hugs, social media( sorry I´m not on it but family and friends share) and even a neighborhood "Pooch Plunge" into the pond to help lift us up.
The day of his wake was sunny and bright but with a wind chill in the teens. Gusts reached 50mph!
The incredible number of people who surrounded him and us despite that bitter cold and biting wind for hours astounded us! We appreciate those of you who tried as well. We learned many of you took it as a challenge offering comfort, clothing and camaraderie to each other. The presence of so many wrestlers and various marshal artists kept folks in line ;)
Then the next day we learned that you could have heard a pin drop in the packed St. Pat´s church as folks waited for the blessed repose of Michael´s soul. That in itself is a miracle if you know our families and friends!
As his sister, Deandra put it, it´s hard to know how other people loved mike because we can only experience it from our own perspectives, but it has been so beautiful to be able to get a sense of how others loved him and love us. Thank you for this beautiful tribute. We know that somewhere Michael is smiling down on us.
