Lowell
Paul D. Sunderland, age 76, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Blaire House of Tewksbury after a period of declining health over the past few months. For 48 years, he was the beloved husband of Linda R. (Grady) Sunderland.
He was born in Revere on October 20, 1946, a son of the late James D. Sunderland, Jr. and Rose A. (Terenzio) Sunderland. Paul was raised in Lowell, attended Lowell schools and graduated from Billerica High School in 1964. He went on to further his education at the former Lowell Tech Institute where he earned his BS in business.
Prior to his retirement, Paul was employed as a bank department liaison with Lowell Five Bank in Lowell for 13 years. Earlier in his life, Paul worked for AETNA Life and Casualty for over 20 years. Paul enjoyed playing golf and going for long drives. He also enjoyed watching game shows and was a fan of the New England sports teams.
Besides his wife Linda, he is survived by his son Steven Sunderland of Lowell; his siblings, Robert Sunderland and his wife Anita of Epping, NH, Donna Sunderland of N. Chelmsford, James D. Sunderland, III and his wife Denise of Lowell, Edward Sunderland of Taunton and Hope Quinn of Wellsville, NY; also, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Paul will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Laurin Funeral Home of Lowell. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.laurinfuneralhome.com
