ALTON BAY, NH -- Robert "Bob" T. Marchand, 84, of Alton Bay, NH, and formerly of Chelmsford, MA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at The Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, NH.

He was born in Lowell, MA on June 30, 1931, a son of the late J.T. Edward and Rosanna (Rondeau) Marchand.

He was the loving husband of Virginia (Staveley) Marchand with whom he would have celebrated 59 years of Marriage this coming June.

Bob began his future career at an early age delivering ice for his father's Ice Company, Ed Marchand Fuel Oil, Ice and Range Oil. Bob then enlisted and served in The United States Navy for a little over three years having been the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1956 at which time he settled down and married Virginia. He continued working for the family business which had evolved into the Marchand Oil Company where he worked until his retirement.

Upon retiring, Bob spent his summers at Lake Winnipesaukee where he enjoyed family and boating. He always referred to this as "The Camp".

During the winter months, he was a snowbird in Fort Myers, Florida with Virginia. Whether in Florida or New Hampshire, Bob always enjoyed tinkering in various projects in his sheds.

His survivors include: his wife, Virginia (Staveley) Marchand of Alton Bay, NH; his daughter, Sharon (Marchand) Wiljanen of Fitchburg, MA; his two grandchildren, Ashley Wiljanen of Northborough, MA, and Eric Wiljanen of Fitchburg, MA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bob was also the brother of the late Raymond Marchand, Rita (Marchand) O'Brien, Lionel Marchand, Gerry Marchand, and Omer Marchand.
