Roland T. Maille
1926-2013

LOWELL -- Roland T. Maille, 86, a lifelong Lowell resident died unexpectedly on Monday February 11, 2013 at his home with his family at his side.

He was the husband of the late Jacqueline F. (Brassard) Maille who passed away in 2009.

Born in Lowell on April 4, 1926, he was a son of the late Harvey Maille, Sr. and Jessie (Trudel) Maille.

Roland enlisted in the United States Army in 1944 serving his country proudly until 1945 as a soldier in Company E 345th Infantry Regiment. During his service he was honored by receiving the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign ribbon to recognize his outstanding military service. Roland was also awarded the military decoration of Purple Heart as a result of being wounded during battle in the Second World War. Roland went on to attend Lowell Technological Institute for Mechanical Drafting. He worked at A & P Grocery store before going on to work for more than thirty years, as a grounds supervisor at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He worked at the Lafayette Club in Lowell, where many patrons looked forward to seeing his friendly face. He was an avid New England Sports Fan and enjoyed playing and watching golf. Monday night WWF Wrestling was always something Roland looked forward to. He was a member of the CMAC Bowling League for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula M. Moras of Lowell. Roland was the father -in-law of the late George "Chip" Moras. He is also survived by a son Robert Maille and his wife, Nancy (Dion) of Florida; three grandchildren Jeffrey Moras, Lisa Carter, and Eric Moras; four great-grandchildren Kailey Moras, Madison, Kayla & Cole Carter; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Rita Maille, Harvey Maille, Jr., Claire Maille and Raymond "Pee-Wee" Maille.

MAILLE -- It being his request, calling hours have been omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to a Committal Service on Friday February 15, 2013 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Rd., Chelmsford, MA 01824. Please omit flowers.
