BILLERICA -- Ruth L. Canfield, age 74, beloved wife of Frank E. Canfield, died Sunday, at the Winchester Hospital, after a brief illness.

She was born in Boston, April 6, 1936, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Creeden) Conway, and lived in Dorchester before moving to Billerica 40 years ago.

Mrs. Canfield was employed at BASF in Bedford, prior to her retirement 19 years ago.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Canfield is survived by her son, Michael Canfield and his wife, Anne of Billerica; her daughters, Kathleen Wetzonis and her husband, John and Susan Payne and her husband, Bruce of Billerica and Amy Frammartino and her husband, E.J. of N. Reading; her sisters, Theresa Hayes of Bridgewater, and Maryellen Cunningham and Clair Conway of Quincy; her grandchildren, Marissa and Michaela Canfield, Jessica Wetzonis, Derek Diehsner, Matthew Payne and Felicia and Joseph Frammartino.

CANFIELD -- Of Billerica, August 1, Ruth L. (Conway) Canfield. Funeral Wednesday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
