Scott Ivers Obituary

59, Formerly of Chelmsford

Thornton, NH

On February 5, 2021 Scott Ivers left this world with his family by his side. He was larger than life and forever touched the lives of those he met. He and his wife Linda met as teenagers and did everything together in 40 years of marriage. They raised three children: Cari Talbot and husband Christien of Brookline, NH; Erin Woods and husband Mark of Merrimack, NH; Son Tim Ivers of Charlestown, MA. Scott "Pooh" leaves his five adoring grandchildren: Mackenzie, Orion, and Flynn Talbot and Jackson and Ava Lee Woods. He also leaves behind his loving sister Diane Hibbard and husband Craig of Chelmsford. He will be sorely missed by his nieces and nephew and their families; Mandy Messinger and her husband Matt of Hanover, Mike Hibbard and his girlfriend Kylee Cramer of New Albany, Ohio; Rhiannon Royal and her husband John of Lowell.

Scott was a fan favorite with both his family and friends. He would put everyone in a good mood just with his presence, smile, and countless stories. He was genuine and thoughtful, and everyone knew they could count on him. He was always his happiest while spending time with his family and grandchildren whether it was skiing, kayaking, coaching hockey, or any other adventure he could find. The family camping trips were always one of the best times of the year.

Scott was an avid sports-lover and the best partner to have for trivia. Whether kicking field goals at Gillette Stadium, shoot-outs at the Garden, or batting practice at Fenway, the amazing experiences he encountered were endless. Scott and Linda also loved their many vacations traveling the world with their dearest friends.

Scott was very proud to be part of the Market Basket family for the past 42 years and enjoyed a successful career. A year ago, Scott and Linda moved full-time to their dream cabin in the White Mountain Region of New Hampshire. The change of pace and lifestyle was something they had wished for so long. Many great memories and new friends were made in such a short amount of time and to have been able to experience this together is a blessing Linda will always treasure.

Although Scott left all of us way too soon, we feel solace knowing he is now playing rounds of golf with his beloved parents, Frank and Betty Jane.

There will be a private ceremony for immediate family only at their home. A celebration of life will be planned hopefully this summer when conditions are safe. Scott was a strong supporter of The Wounded Warriors Project so if you wish to make a donation in his name, in lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated.

Sincerest condolences to all. Mr. Ivers was my first boss and I couldn't have asked for a better one. He was one of the few people I have met who I would call a true inspiration; he always seemed to be living the good life, being a great family man, going on adventures, and not letting life pass by unseized. Anyone who worked with him at Market Basket knows that he was always a positive presence and had a way of putting people at ease.
I had the pleasure of working with Linda for a time as well, and my heart goes out to her in this time. May you and yours find peace.

I will always remember Mr. Ivers as the cool Dad of the neighborhood. He was funny and always smiling. I called him Mr. Ivers although he told me to call him Scott, it made me feel like an adult even though I was probably twelve. I am truly sorry to all of the Ivers family Mr. Ivers was a wonderful man.I am glad that I had the opportunity to know him

My friend scott.my heart is aching and my eyes are filled with tears as I right this.
42 years ago we met for the first time and after 10 minutes a friendship was born.over the years there were hockey games, football games, golf and many beers.we saw our children grow up and seeing you glow when you first told me you were going to be a grandaddy is a memory I will hold .when my boys went to work for you I know you treated them different than the other kids, even though you said you didn't.and I thank you for that.you looked out for them.the last time I saw you, just three short weeks before your passing,we were enjoying beers by the bonfire at the ski area and talked about what a great summer it was going to be.our last words spoken to each other were see you next month.i won't forget you buddy.tommorow I'm going to have some of your favorite irish whiskey and raise my glass to you.rest in peace my good friend, you will be missed.
