Stella Kokinacis Obituary

Stella P.

(Eliopoulos) Kokinacis
Loving mother and grandmother

CHELMSFORD -- Stella P. (Eliopoulos) Kokinacis, of Chelmsford, a member of a well-known Lowell and Chelmsford family, recently passed away, peacefully, at home, with loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry S. Kokinacis.

A private funeral service was held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.

A graduate of Lowell High School and Lowell Commercial College, Stella was employed as a bookkeeper for McKittrick Hardware in Lowell, and also worked for her brothers at Nabnasset Pharmacy in Westford, and at the Hellenic American School in Lowell. She later enjoyed many years as a volunteer elementary school classroom tutor in the Lowell Public Schools.

The matriarch of her family, a role she embraced with love and pride, Stella was the oldest daughter of Peter and Diamondo Ladopoulos Eliopoulos.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah A. Oslan, her husband Jorge L. and their son, Marcus J., (and their family dog Elios, who Stella adored), and Eugenia C. Kokinacis, Esq., all of Chelmsford; three brothers, Daniel P. Eliopoulos of Lowell, George P. Eliopoulos of Chelmsford and his fiancée, Ellen Simorellis, and Dr. John P. Eliopoulos and his wife Betty of Swampscott; six sisters, Despena Zouzas and her husband, Samuel of Chelmsford, Regina Dabilis and her husband, Arthur of Chelmsford, and Sylvia, Christine, Helen and Ethel Eliopoulos, all of Chelmsford; four sisters-in-law, Antoinette Eliopoulos of Chelmsford, Olga Eliopoulos of Westford, Irene Kokinacis Maib of Dracut, and Patsy Kokinacis of la Quinta, California; a brother-in-law, Charles Georgenes of Jamaica Plain, and by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Stella was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo P. Eliopoulos and Michael P. Eliopoulos; a sister, Evelyn Georgenes; five brothers-in-law, George, Charles, Alexander, Nicholas, and Gora Kokinacis, and nine sisters-in-law, Sappho Kokinacis, Pauline Petren, Alice Graham, Kathleen Laurizio, Theodora Demogenes, Stella Contos, Helen Psareas, Kay Kokinacis, and Rosemary Eliopoulos.

Stella was an exemplary woman with an indomitable spirit! One of a kind; an independent and forward thinker. She was a devoted mother and loyal friend who enjoyed a purposeful and selfless life. A lifelong parishioner of the Holy Trinity Church in Lowell, she served on numerous committees and was actively involved with many church social clubs.

A consummate community volunteer, Stella served on various committees over the years at the Lowell and Chelmsford Garden Clubs, as well as the Whistler and Nesmith House in Lowell, and Girls, Inc., in Lowell.

She was compassionate and giving to the less fortunate, and always remembered everyone on special occasions. Stella was a fashionista in every sense of the word and well versed in the nuances of etiquette! She enjoyed poetry, cultivating her garden, summering in Ogunquit, Maine, and writing to her pen pal in New York.

She will be sorely missed by her loving family and by all of those whose lives she touched.

May her memory be ever eternal!!
