Stephen Gadbois Obituary

Beloved Husband, Son, Father, Brother, Pepé, Friend

Stephen Frederick Gadbois, 57 of Chelmsford, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving wife by his side.

Born in Lowell on December 12, 1963, Stephen graduated from Shawsheen Technical High School. As a skilled mason, he cherished the time he worked for Middlesex Masonry. His beautiful stone work can be seen all over, from New England to California.

One of Stephen's loves was playing guitar with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling and exploring many places; Stephen loved the warmth of the sun during long motorcycle rides with his wife. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and his dog, Howie. A constant jokester, Stephen will be truly missed, as he touched so many lives with his kindness.

He is survived by his wife, Diane, his daughters, Olivia Gadbois of Manchester, NH; Cassie Gadbois and his grandson, Mason, of Dracut, MA; his step-son, Bryce McLaughlin, and step-daughter Ariannah Harrington of Wilmington, MA; his step-daughter, Rebecca McLaughlin of Andover, MA; his step-son, Joshua Harrington of Leominster, MA; his parents, Donald and Judith (Johnson) Gadbois of Chelmsford, MA; his five sisters, Donna Gadbois of Billerica, MA; Veronica Gadbois of Westford, MA; Susan Gadbois of Bellows Falls, VT; Jennifer Gadbois of Dracut, MA; Marguerite Gadbois of Keene, NH; and his four brothers, John Gadbois of Cheshire, MA; Peter Gadbois of Chelmsford, MA; Thomas Gadbois of Billerica, MA and Benjamin Gadbois of Julian, CA. Stephen was also the brother of the late Mark Gadbois. He is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Stephen will remain forever in our hearts. Relatives and friends will be invited to a service when it is safe to do so. Per Stephen's request, memorial donations to the Chelmsford Congregation of Jehovah's witnesses can be made online at: donate.jw.org

He just came out of the blue one Fri. Nite to the Harmony Community Ctr. Guess he heard about us playing music. We gave him a guitar and maybe for the first time he was scared but he got up and sang a song. And then he started coming quite often. I could tell in his eyes he was happy when he came thru the doors. Everyone enjoyed him and his singing. I especially enjoyed when he would call me and say see ya in a few hours. I made a special relationship with this man and his wife. He will always have a special place in my heart. Will see you again my friend!❤

Although it's been awhile since we saw each other, we shared 25 years of laughs, family dinners and our first cruise together. You were a amazing mason with a natural creativity and vision with all your projects. You will be missed by many. ❤

To My Friend Diane and Family,
Like many, I knew Steve to be a kind and generous soul. I will treasure many memories, for one sitting around the campfire strumming his guitar and singing.
Very soon we will continue to create new and forever memories with Steve as life was meant to be.

I've never known you but I'm sure you were a great guy who had traveled a great journey. Knowing your mum who I love made you.

Dear Diane, Bryce, Gadbois Family and Friends,
We cannot express enough our deep sorrow at the loss of dear Steve. It was our honor to come to know Steve these least few years, and share some lobster on our deck, and in our humble home from time to time. What a treasure he is. Cannot wait for him to show us how to build a Gadbois-built stone wall, in the near future, when we are living as we were designed to live.
With love and prayers for you now and as time goes by,
Smutzer Family, Westford

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
