He was born in Lowell on Dec. 28, 1924, son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Cassidy) McAfee.
Mr. McAfee was a Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He served aboard the USS Canberra and the USS Pigeon. and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Walker Rogers Post 662 in Lowell.
Mr. McAfee drove a truck for Thomas Express for 26 years, and for TransGas from 1980 until his retirement. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 49.
He was an avid fisherman and sports fan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann Talbot and her husband Robert of Dracut; three grandchildren, Kenneth Hamilton of Everett, April Ramirez of Dracut and Tara Hamilton of Melrose. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Claudia Perrault of Lowell and Martha Nichols of Tyngsboro; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Susan Willey and the brother of the late Elizabeth Leverone.
