Thomas Murphy Obituary
formerly of Lowell; 84
FLORIDA - Thomas D. Murphy, 84, formerly of Lowell, passed away, Saturday, February 24, 2018, in New Jersey. He was the beloved husband of Priscille (Lemieux) Murphy with whom he had celebrated 53 years
of marriage.
He was born in Lowell on April 21, 1933 the son of the late Mary F. (O'Shea) and Timothy Murphy. Thomas was educated in Lowell and upon his graduation from Lowell High School, he enlisted in the Air Force and served his country proudly during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1956.
He was employed by Raytheon of Bedford for 35 years prior to his retirement and had resided in Naples, Florida for the last 18 years. Tom was fond of travel, particularly to Ireland where he had many friends and relatives. He was an avid reader and loved dogs, leaving behind his devoted Teddy.
Besides his wife, Priscille, Tom will be deeply missed by his sons, Tim and his wife Anne of County Dublin, Ireland and Sean and his wife Melissa of Cherry Hill, NJ; his three grandchildren, Eric, Raymond and Tallulah.
Tom is predeceased by all of his siblings: John, Raymond, Joseph, Margaret "Peggy" Moriarty, Helen Murphy, Timothy and Mary.
MURPHY - Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, March 2nd, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, MA 01826. His funeral will be held from the funeral home at 9 A.M. on Saturday, March 3rd with his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 A.M. in St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Road, Dracut. Burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Thomas' memory to the Lowell Humane Society, 951 Broadway Street, Lowell, MA 01854.
