Tilly Miles Obituary

Tilly Miles
formerly of Chelmsford; 81
LOWELL Tilly Miles, 81, passed away peacefully at Saints Medical Center in Lowell on August 16.
Tilly, born in Bavaria, Germany, came to the United States when she was 26 and married her husband of 55 years, Reginald Miles. They began their lives together in Rome, NY. Later, Tilly and Reg raised their 3 children in Chelmsford, MA, then proceeded to enjoy 20 wonderful years of retirement in Bridgton, Maine.
She was an active citizen of this country and always remained proud of her heritage, passing along many
traditions to her family. She worked in a wide variety of settings during her time, both paid and volunteer. She was a leader in both Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, volunteered for public television, and readily contributed to her community in any way she was
needed.
Tilly was an accomplished seamstress, following in the tradition of her own mother.
She played the violin and the piano. Her delicious German meals were testimony to her love for cooking. She loved to play tennis, golf, enjoyed both downhill and cross country skiing, cards, and never turned down an opportunity to enjoy good food with good friends. She was quick with a smile and laughed easily.
Tilly's optimism and strength will be missed and
celebrated by her surviving family and friends.
She now joins her brothers and parents as she leaves behind her husband, Reg Miles; her sons, Ron Miles and Norm Miles; a daughter-in-law, Orna (Herlihy) Miles; her daughter, Mandi (Miles) Marley and a son-in-law, Mike Marley. She also leaves 5 grandchildren who she absolutely adored. Her grandsons, Ian Miles, Keith Miles, and Eric Miles will lovingly remember their Grammy. Tilly's granddaughters, Autumn Marley and Faith Marley, who loved to play hide the pillow with Grandma will also miss her terribly.
MILES Funeral services will be private. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts
Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or online at www.alz.org.

Mandi, I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of your Mom from our many years as friends growing up together in the neighborhood. We lost our Mom 4 years ago, so you and your family certainly have my deepest sympathy and prayers.

My deepest sympathy for your family. I remember Mrs. Miles fondly as a neighborhood child growing up playing with the Miles children.

All my best
